Luke Lockyer Memorial Trophy

Luke Lockyer Memorial Trophy

The inaugural Luke Lockyer Memorial Trophy was played for at the Saffrons on August Bank Holiday Monday. The event was played a very good spirit with 8 teams taking part and play getting under way before 10 am on a scorcher of a day weather wise. It was a 7 a side tournament with beer flowing all day nearly as much as the runs! Many a six was hit during the course of the event, something Luke was famed for doing. And it was a nice touch to see one of his closest pals, Mark Trubshaw, winning the prize for the most sixes (12) during the day.

Trubshaw and the 'Lady Boys' won the event in literal darkness against a Cuckmere Valley 7. The Valley needed 19 off 2 balls before forfeiting because of the light. Representing the winning team were as follows. Mark Trubshaw, Duncan Cameron, Adam Blackburn, Mark Dunford, Adam Braun, Paul Stevens and Nick Hoadley.
